｢悔改｣是一個過程：決心離罪-受洗歸屬基督耶穌-受洗腳禮得耶穌愛到底的承諾-領受應許的聖靈-靠聖靈的力量遵行真理-日日更新-追求聖潔完全。是一個靠著基督所得到之重新學義，成義以致達到能夠通過大審判而得生命的全新的機會。這神藉著基督耶穌所提供的機會和方法，就叫做｢福音｣。
所以，悔改(G3340)在經文中，通常是一個總稱，而不是一個立即可完成的動作。就如同｢信耶穌｣，是一個遵循基督信仰內容所教導之學義，成義的生活模式，而不只是指觀念上的接受即完成。
